Coworking.IE

Coworking.ie is a new community-driven coworking group-blog and promotion site, set up by Jason Roe.

Coworking’s a pretty cool idea — ‘a movement to create a community of cafe-like collaboration spaces for developers, writers and independents.’ Great news for us teleworkers.

I’ve subscribed — it’ll be interesting to track development of this concept, in Ireland and elsewhere…

Thanks for the mention Justin. I was delighted to be invited by Jason to join as an author of what is a multi-author blog so I’m sure there will be room for numerous teleworkers to get involved.

I can’t imagine anything more ghastly. Odi profanum vulgus et arceo.

Writing, in particular, is the antithesis of a collaborative activity. Writing that’s done by committee is as bleakly soulless as anything else that’s done by committee.

Ben — you can tell you don’t telework from home on a permanent basis — a little in-person companionship and chat would be welcome. That’s what I’d like to get out of a coworking site…

I think I’m just more misanthropic than you are.

A multi-author blog isn’t something done by committee unless you infer that each individual author will have to contribute something to every individual post. I think the idea of collaborative workspaces is very exciting simply because while I work alone, I like to take time to talk to people. I don’t know what you guys do for a living but I’d guess there must be something we would talk about around the watercooler. And a watercooler is infrastructure you find in a larger company, one with established roots, which pays the water bill. It’s a large static structure which draws people near.

That’s what co-working is. A watercooler for small companies and entrepreneurs.

I really like this idea and appreciate the bounce given to it by the community.

This novel Idea of Coworking is exciting..should be encouraged enough, till it gets it’s desired momentum. Also, working from home is not that easy, as it appears to be!! steve
