Oo-er. Speaking as someone in the middle of building KDE 4.2beta1 to try to switch to it, ‘half-baked and broken usability nightmare’ fills me with a certain amount of trepidation.

(But apparently its konsole scrolls faster, and the unconscionably slow scrolling of the 3.5.x konsole is driving me mad…)

ugh…. Nix, this is turning out to be a nightmare. :(

the KDE4 konsole and Juk all look pretty awful, and konsole doesn’t support scripting. But the KDE3.5 packages’ version of konsole seems to have display-corruption issues when scrolling!

At this rate I may have to downgrade back to Ubuntu 8.04 to avoid this.

I take it that Gnome doesn’t work with something-or-other you rely on? Or you just never wanted anything to do with CORBA in any form ever again?

actually, I use GNOME as well — I just prefer a few bits of the KDE experience, such as konsole and juk (the audio player). the only reason not to pick and choose from both is if I was attempting to minimize memory usage — and that’s a bit of a lost cause on all OSes these days anyway!
