Hmm. Airtricity rates are ex-VAT according to http://www.airtricity.com/ireland/Airtricity%20Residential%20Tariffs.pdf (but not on http://www.airtricity.com/ireland/for_your_home/our_prices/ )

Adding 13.5% to airtricity puts their lowest rate at 16.196c/kWh which would support the stated relative prices to ESB (airtricity -13%, Bord Gais -14% availing of the maximum discounts on each offering).

    ( There’s a clearer ratesheet for Bord Gaid at http://www.bordgaisenergy.ie/htm/residential_electricity/3_existing_customer/index.htm?layer=4 )

damn, I missed the VAT! how confusing. That should have been front-and-center on those sites, it’s marginally misleading for it not to be :(

thanks for spotting that Simon. Looks like it’s Bord Gais then.

I’m more annoyed that I didn’t wait a week before switching. If the difference between the two was what it is now, I’d have gone for the renewable option.

You can always cancel and switch again. All you have to do is cancel with Bord Gais and register with Airtricity.
