    Holy Crap — Virgin/NTL’s ISP/DNS side was blocking it? Or their mail? They’re with “teh goog” now, but a couple of years ago they were hosted by my $WORK. The article doesn’t seem to address how they were blocked.

    hey Peter — pretty sure this is the ISP/DNS/HTTP side.

    based on what I’ve heard of the UK’s system, I imagine it works by diverting DNS lookups of the A records for “bad” sites to a proxy server, which then returns filtered/censored HTTP responses.
