Unfortunately I don’t think £2k is going to make any difference at all to the scum in the Mail, they’ve probably already offset it against the money they “save” in not paying for imagery in the first place. The only way they’ll be put in their place is if someone individually takes them to the cleaners for it – which seems unlikely, since their exposure is limited with individuals – or a class-action style case is taken against them by a representative organisation.
It’s not just imagery is the problem btw, the Star is renowned on Foot.ie for copying and pasting comments from users and either using them without credit to the user or the site, or even as the base of complete articles. That’s also stealing in my book.
