    Of course the real thing with smart locks is “what would your insurer think?” One notes that this is a Singaporean company, and Singapore is somewhere where crime is so low that you hardly need a lock at all…

    (I note that I have a very popular brand of Huawei phone, and it’s not on the list. Only their most eye-bleedingly expensive models are there that I can see. Of course the list hasn’t been updated for a year and a half: my phone was released the month after the list was last updated…)

    The weird thing is that I’ve increasingly been hearing of people (in the US) whose apartment owners are requiring that they install smart locks. Maybe that relies on them only having renter’s insurance, rather than house insurance, or something.
