Expanding on the "Xplanet" desktop for Windows users:

Windows 2000:

Right-click on desktop Select 'Active Desktop' > 'Customize My Desktop' Click 'New...' Enter chosen "Xplanet" URL* into the 'Location' text input box Click 'OK' Untick the 'My Current Home Page' box Check that the "Xplanet" box is ticked Click 'OK' Click 'OK'

Windows XP:

Right-click on desktop Select 'Properties' In 'Display Properties' dialogue: Select 'Desktop' tab Click 'Customize Desktop...' In 'Desktop Items' dialogue: Select 'Web' tab Click 'New...' Enter chosen "Xplanet" URL* into the 'Location' text input box Click 'OK' Untick the 'My Current Home Page' box Check that the "Xplanet" box is ticked Click 'OK' Click 'OK'

Getting it working:

The "Xplanet" window should appear on the desktop, although, assuming you are a sensible computer user(!), you may have to configure firewall software to allow the Windows desktop components access to the internet! The window will usually be off to one side, so... As you move your mouse over the window, a grey title bar should appear. Click and drag the grey title bar to move the window into the centre of the screen. To get the full effect, it is best to click the 'Maximise' button in the top right of the grey title bar. Once the "Xplanet" desktop is installed, you can move your mouse to the top of the screen to access the grey title bar. In the top left of the grey title bar is a drop-down menu. You can select 'Synchronize' to update the picture. From the 'Synchronize' dialgue, it is possible to set the synchronisation to a daily schedule, or even to update when the computer is idle. You can now sit back and watch the days go sailing by!
