Software: SpicyLinks

SpicyLinks is an automated link-blog summariser. It reads other people's link-blogs, reporting the stuff that proves popular (ie. is linked to by several people) in your personal collection of sources. This way, you can find out what smart people with good taste are reading and thinking about, instead of relying on the Digg herd. It is particularly useful as a better user interface to your del.icio.us network.

It generates HTML, text, and RSS feed output.

It was inspired by HotLinks.

Demo

As a demo, here's some "live" output from my own social network:

Sample

Running spicylinks on a local OPML file:

./spicylinks.pl --feeds feeds.opml

From a remote OPML file, built from a del.icio.us network:

./spicylinks.pl --feeds 'http://taint.org/scraped/deliciousnetwork2opml.cgi?u=jm'

Directly from a del.icio.us user's network:

./spicylinks.pl --delnetwork jm
